COURSE CONTENT

ASME / API Welding Requirements:
Review of ASME PQR's (Procedure Qualification Records) and WPS's (Welding Procedure Specifications). Candidates will be expected to be able to review an ASME PQR & WPS and determine compliance with ASME Section IX, B31.3, and API requirements including RP-577. This portion of the course will cover the rules and how to apply them when reviewing the documents in the format developed for this exam.

API Document Review:
Review includes coverage of API 570, parts of RP-571, RP-574 and 578 in class and review of practice questions written in the exam format. All the areas to be included on the exam will be addressed as they apply when using API 570.

ASME B31.3 & B16.5:
Coverage of all the areas of B31.3 & B16.5 outlined in the Body of Knowledge. Specific areas of these codes have been specified to be covered on the exam in the new API 570 Body of Knowledge. All those areas will be covered using practice questions and exercises in class.

ASME V - NDE:
Review of the requirements of ASME Section V as they apply when using API 570. The techniques and requirements of ASME Section V apply differently to each API certification. This review will cover the areas related to piping inspection.

Kebutuhan akan ketersediaan tenaga kerja yang mempunyai skill di bidang welding pada oil gas industries tentulah sangat signifikan jumlahnya. Pada setiap project Oil Gas pastilah akan dijumpai aktifitas welding yang tentunya mempunyai standart dan spesifikasi teknis yang sangat ketat yang mengacu pada standart internasional.

INTRODUCTION

OBJECTIVES

To understand the proper use and interpretation of ASME B&PV Section IX Code - Welding Qualifications, thiscourse starts with a 2-day review of the Code and the welding portions of related ASME construction codes (Section I, VIII-1, B31.1, and B31.3), followed by one day of studying the welding metallurgy that ASME IX is based on. WPS DESIGN COURSE

DESCRIPTION:

A WPS is a document that describes how welding is to be carried out in production.  They are recommended for all welding operations and many application codes and standards make them mandatory

What information should they include?

Sufficient details to enable any competent person to apply the information and produce a weld of acceptable quality.  The amount of detail and level of controls specified on a WPS is dependant on the application and criticality of the joint to be welded. For most applications the information required is generally similar to that recorded on a Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) or Welding Procedure Approval Record (WPAR), except that ranges are usually permitted on thicknesses, diameters, welding current, materials, joint types etc.

PROFESIONAL WELDING METALURGY

INTRODUCTION & OBJECTIVES

This training will explore the metallurgical aspect of welding for industrial materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys, titanium alloys, and copper alloys. The training will emphasize the relationship between welding quality and metallurgical transformation that occur during melting and solidification of metals. Training participants will be directed to understand these phenomenon and welding defects that arise from the transformation. Failure of weld after welding or during weld repair will be discussed in relation to the material microstructure. Welding philosophy of dissimilar metals and caddied materials will also be introduced by referring to the latest welding technology. At the end of the course, some real case studies about weld failure will be presented, and participants will also be introduced to the laboratory equipments for analysis.
